The Ghana Museums and Monuments Board (GMMB) organized a Capacity-Building Workshop on the Implementation of the Integrated Management Plan (IMP) for Forts and Castles in Ghana.
The workshop formed part of GMMB’s ongoing commitment to strengthening institutional collaboration and promoting the sustainable management of Ghana’s historic forts and castles, many of which hold significant cultural and historical value both nationally and internationally.
The session brought together staff from various departments within the institution to deepen understanding of the Integrated Management Plan and encourage coordinated implementation strategies across all levels of the organization. Participants engaged in discussions on heritage conservation, site management, stakeholder collaboration, and sustainable preservation practices aimed at safeguarding these important monuments for future generations.
In his remarks, the Executive Director, Mr. Kwesi-Essel Blankson, emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in the preservation of Ghana’s cultural heritage and encouraged all staff to actively contribute to the successful implementation of the management plan.
The workshop also provided an opportunity for knowledge sharing and strengthened interdepartmental cooperation in the management of the country’s forts and castles.
GMMB remains dedicated to preserving, protecting, and promoting Ghana’s rich cultural heritage through education, research, conservation, and stakeholder engagement.
